Andy Morffew’s Bio

I spend my life between Hampshire in England and the Gulf coast of Florida. I also travel a great deal to capture the interesting and beautiful members of the animal kingdom. My main interest is birdlife but I also take photographs of many other subjects.

Spending so much time in the natural environment, I am acutely aware how we are damaging the ecosphere. Anything I can do to help protect nature and wildlife is a small price to pay for the enjoyment I get from them.

All my images are available for free, please see the Information section (on Andy’s website) for more details.

Thank you for visiting! I’m one shot away from a great day!

Editor’s Note About Andy Morffew: A Foundational Gift to Eagles Explored
Andy Morffew was the first photographer I contacted for this project. His response set the tone for everything that followed. He offered not only a stunning portfolio of more than 60 eagle images, but also his time, encouragement, and belief in the mission. That kind of support is rare, and it mattered deeply.

To me, photography is a fusion of artistry, technique, experience, and persistent exposure to opportunity. Andy embodies all of these. His images don’t just document; they haunt. The eyes, the talons, the tension in a moment suspended mid-flight … they leave you breathless. I’ve seen many eagle photographs, but Andy’s work evokes something deeper: reverence.

Thanks is not enough. What Andy gave was more than usage rights. It was a foundational gift. His images helped shape the visual language of Eagles Explored, and his generosity helped shape its soul. I share my deepest gratitude for Andy’s enormous contribution to this experiment in education.

The Lifeblood of EaglesExplored: Honoring the Artists Behind the Lens
Every image on this site is a gift—an offering of time, talent, and trust from photographers who have chosen to share their work under open-source licenses. Without their generosity, this archive would not exist. These images are not just pixels; they are portals into the raw beauty, complexity, and majesty of bald eagles in the wild.

We feature photographers whose work exemplifies the rare combination that defines great wildlife photography: artistry, experience, technical mastery, and the grit to keep showing up. There are good days and not-so-good days in the field—but the photographer who endures captures the gems. Their images become the backbone of education, outreach, and scientific humility.

This section is a tribute to those creators. It’s where we honor not just the photographs, but the people behind them—those who have lent their vision to a project built on collaboration, transparency, and awe.

This site is predicated on open-source licensing so that others may use and share the images in accordance with each license type.
